Dog Boarding
Clifden
Kennels provide a unique boarding experience for your dog, based on a
small number of well proportioned indoor kennels, 6 single and 4
double, social interaction with other dogs, lead walks and free running
exercise, with an emphasis on meeting the individual needs of each dog,
ensuring first class quality care whilst boarding with us.
Alternatively if you are looking to board you dog elsewhere, hopefully
you'll find all the relative information here you need to help ask the
right questions and make an informed choice.
Dog Boarding Facilities:
Fully insured, County Council Compliant and Irish Boarding Kennels and Cattery Association member, Clifden Kennels has 6 single kennels, suitable for most dogs, and 4 double kennels for larger dog breeds, or dogs from the same house sharing. Although there is no legislation governing boarding kennels in Ireland, our kennels exceed the requirements as laid down in Britain and we adhere to the voluntary code of conduct we accept as a member of the Irish Boarding Kennels and Cattery Association.
We provide beds and bedding, bowls, leads, toys and chews for use when inside.
Outside is a large free running and socialisation paddock where dogs can let off steam and meet their fellow boarders.
Each kennel is individually heated, with an IR heat lamp, when necessary.
We have a hot dog shower, which enables us to wash any dogs in our care if required.
Dog Boarding Routine:
During our years boarding dogs, one thing that we have found to be consistently valuable in enhancing the boarding experience is a routine. All our boarders are walked, fed, exercised at the same time each day.
If you have a particular routine that you would like for us to maintain, we can accommodate (within reason). Most routine patterns are based around feeding and we always maintain your dogs regular feeding routine, whilst boarding with us.
Dog Boarding - What to Bring:
Although at Clifden Kennels we provide everything your dog will need whilst boarding with us, we do understand that a few familiar items can help your dog settle into the boarding environment, therefore, if it's just a favourite toy, or bed, blanket, bowls, toys and treats, feel free to bring them along.
An up to date vaccination certificate is absolutely essential, so that we can ensure your dog is vaccinated against the major canine diseases.
It is the policy of Clifden Kennels to refuse entry to any dog that does not have a valid vaccination certificate.

Dog Boarding - Kennel Cough:
Kennel Cough is a highly contagious condition, found predominantly where there are large numbers of dogs, hence the name 'Kennel' cough, however, dog shows, veterinary clinics, rescue homes, even contact with a dog on the beach can lead to a case of kennel cough.
In severe cases kennel cough can be highly distressful and even fatal in young pups or older dogs.
There are a great number of strains, preventative vaccines, treatments and many schools of thoughts the benefits, effectiveness and disadvantages of kennel cough vaccinations. It is the policy of Clifden Kennels to refuse entry to any dog that does not have a current kennel cough vaccination.
