Dog Training
We humans have lived with dogs for the past 10,000 years, however, it is only in recent times, probably the last 50 years, that dogs have become pets.
Up to this point, dogs not only lived with humans but worked with humans and that work provided both physical and mental exercise.
Most dogs are now left at home for a portion of the day while everyone is out at work or school and may not get regular exercise. This ultimately is the root cause of 99% of all canine behavioural problems, which in turn leads to dogs being handed into rescue centres or dog pounds, with an alarming amount being put down.
If you want to train your dog, no matter what route you take, there is no secret or quick or easy way. Dog training requires planning and commitment from the dog owner, so whether you read a book, use a trainer, use on-line guidance or watch a video, ultimately it is you who will have to train yourself to train your dog.
Residential Dog Training
At Clifden Kennels we offer a residential training program that is 3 weeks long.
During that time we establish your dog's personality and design a training program that suits your dogs wants and needs. At the end of the 3 weeks you are invited to stay for a 2 day owner training program, which outlines the various methods used and offers you hands on experience at implementing the dog training methods.
I feel that time is an essential ingredient to dog training, therefore, I never have more than 2 residential training dogs at one time.

I believe that you should never stop learning and the more you can read about a subject the better you become at it.
